Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Injured Employee of Zereclor Corporation in Phetchaburi and Ensure Benefits According to the Law

         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to Phetchaburi to visit and give words of encouragement to the insured person injured in the fire at Zereclor Corporation (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Khao Yoi, Phetchaburi, ensuring they receive all benefits according to the law.
         On January 30, 2021, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan to visit Phetchaburi to visit and give words of encouragement to the insured person injured in the fire at Zereclor Corporation (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi also joined the visit. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of General Prawit Wongsuwan expressed his concern for those injured in the fire. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour was instructed to investigate and assist all injured workers in receiving legal compensation benefits. Today, the Labour Minister assigned his Advisor to visit the area with the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi, visit and give words of encouragement, and provide legal benefits and assistance following the legal process.
         Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that the Phetchaburi Labour Protection and Welfare Office’s investigation found that the incident occurred yesterday (January 29, 2021) around 17.00 hours at Zerechol Corporation (Thailand) Co., Ltd., located at 53/4, Khao Yoi, Khao Yoi, Phetchaburi. The company manufactures engine oil and currently employs 34 people. The primary cause of the fire was a broken oil line. Oil spill and hit a fire switch, causing sparks and a fire in the production building. One employee was injured in the arm from scalding. She is currently receiving treatment at Phra Chomklao Phetchaburi Hospital. The Phetchaburi Provincial Social Security Office has examined the status of the insured person. The name is Ms. Wanatnan Jangkrajang, 34 years old. The Phetchaburi Provincial Social Security Office has coordinated with the Khao Yoi Hospital regarding the right to medical treatment. In such a case, the employee is entitled to receive compensation for initial medical expenses not exceeding 50,000 Baht. If the employee is off work for one day or more, they are entitled to receive compensation at 70 percent of the monthly wages for not more than one year. Once the treatment is complete and there is a loss of capacity to work, there will be compensation costs, which the Social Security Office provides relief.
         In addition, the Phetchaburi Labour Welfare and Protection Office will invite the employer to meet for further investigation on Monday, February 1, at 13.00 hours. If the employer closes the factory for reparation causing employees to stop working, the Phetchaburi Labour Protection and Welfare Office will monitor and ensure the employees receive benefits under the law, such as wages. For the factory, the Ministry of Labour has a fund for occupational safety, health, and working environment. It is a source of low-interest loans with a maximum credit limit of 1,000,000 Baht and an interest of two percent per year, providing employers with services to lend money to correct unsafe conditions or prevent accidents and occupational diseases. All sectors of the Ministry of Labour will continue to monitor and provide assistance closely.
