The Labour Minister assigned his Secretariat to commence the Co-payment project, “meeting new graduates,” to promote new graduates’ employment. The project allows companies to operate their business continuously, driving the country’s economy to recover quickly.
On November 16, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong, presided over the opening ceremony of the Co-payment project, “meeting new graduates” at Chonburi Technical College. The Labour Minister’s Secretariat said that the Prime Minister, and Ministry of Labour, under Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, gives importance to promoting employment to help people affected by Covid-19, students, and new graduates. The Labour Minister aims to promote new generations’ employment and those who are new to the workforce. The initiative follows the government’s urgent policy, resulting in a new employment promotion program for new graduates by the public and private sectors. There are employers/companies and new graduates who have shown much interest in the project. The Co-payment project was instructed to support 260,000 graduates with employment, simultaneously supporting companies to continue their business operations and promote employment among graduates, supporting employees to have sufficient income to cover expenses. This will help spread household spending in every region of the country and ultimately drive the overall economy. In this project, the government will subsidize 50 percent of the salary according to the graduates’ educational background. The project was implemented in October 2020.
“The collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and the Office of Vocational Education Commission has discussed creating a student employment database for new graduates from the 2018-2020 academic year. The Office of Vocational Education Commission is a mechanism driving the project together with the Ministry of Labour, undertaking the Co-payment project to drive the country’s economy to recover quickly,” concluded Mr. Suthep.
