July 6, 2026 – Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, together with Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, carried out an official visit to inspect conditions and meet with residents, informal workers, and farmers in the area. Also joining the visit were Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Director-General of the Department of Skills Development, Captain Saroj Khomkhai, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ms. Kanchana Poolkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, Mr. Phiphatchai Paiboon, Political Spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Surachat Thientong, Secretary to the Labour Minister, Ms. Thidarath Yingcharoen, Advisor to the Labour Minister, and senior Ministry of Labour executives. The visit took place in Chiang Rai Province.
This field visit covered two main official inspection points. At the first location, the Siriwat Building in Pa Daet District, Mr. Julapun was scheduled to distribute fire extinguishers to the informal worker network, and to join the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives in meeting with local farmers, as well as visiting activity booths set up by Ministry of Labour agencies providing a range of public services, including workplace safety education, labour clinics, old-age lump sum benefit services, domestic and overseas career guidance, and registration for Section 40 benefits.
In the afternoon, Mr. Julapun proceeded to the Mueang Phan Sub-district Municipality Hall, Phan District, to preside over the opening and deliver a special keynote address on the theme of “Building a Safety Culture in the Workplace” under the project to raise awareness of safety and occupational health among the informal worker network. He also distributed an additional 19 fire extinguishers, observed a demonstration exercise on the use of fire extinguishers for initial fire suppression, and distributed basic tool kits under the project to develop skills among independent workers to build sustainable income for communities.
Mr. Julapun Amornvivat emphasised that the Ministry of Labour is committed to caring for workers in all groups, particularly the more than 540,000 informal and independent workers in Chiang Rai Province, by ensuring their access to Section 40 benefits and protection to ensure occupational safety, to drive the sustainable growth of Chiang Rai’s grassroots economy.
This official visit focused on integrated collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to listen to the difficulties and demands of residents and translate them into concrete solutions.
