Labour Minister Observes Thai Commercial Cooking Training and Distributes Food Boxes to Din Daeng Flat Community to Overcome COVID-19

          On September 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin observed vocational training courses and the training program for specifically targeted workers to promote career opportunities in the Thai commercial cooking branch at the College of Labour building, Department of Skill Development. Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, and the Ministry of Labour’s senior executives participated in the occasion. Mr. Suchart said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, are concerned about the workforce and people affected by the COVID-19 situation. Thus, the Department of Skill Development has conducted training to enhance skills for interested workers and unemployed to support them to use their free time to their benefit.
          Mr. Suchart continued that the training course in Thai commercial cooking today will increase knowledge and skills to promote a career in making food boxes for sale online to help increase income during unemployment. The online platform is an easy, modern, and convenient channel for chefs, cooks, and consumers, and it helps to build a career and morale for informal workers in the Din Daeng flat and nearby areas to have income so that they can take care of themselves and their families to survive the COVID-19 situation. The training period is 18 hours with two batches of 20 people each, targeted at informal workers. The training will take place between September 13 to 15, 2021. The 1,500 boxes of food boxes obtained from the training will be delivered to representatives of 4 Din Daeng communities, consisting of Din Daeng Community Housing 1, Din Daeng Community Housing 2, Din Daeng City Rehabilitation Project Phase 1 (Flat Plaeng G), and Din Daeng Community, Flat 21-32 (in front of the Ministry of Labour). The food boxes will be based on menus consisting of chicken basil, boiled eggs, fried noodles with soy sauce, and chicken fried rice.
