Labour Minister Orders SSO to Support the Family of the Victim in the Crane Collapse in Nonthaburi, Paying Over 1.7M Baht in Compensation

                Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin showed concern for the incident where a crane fell on workers in Nonthaburi, resulting in the death of one worker. The Ministry of Labour has ordered the provincial Labour Welfare and Protection Office, including the Social Security Office in Nonthaburi to investigate the incident, gather evidence, and check the insurance status of the worker in order to provide assistance and benefits following their eligibility. The incident happened today (August 21, 2020) at 11.15 hours. A crane had fallen on workers at the construction site for Kunalai Westgate Village on Ban Kluai Sai Noi Road, Phimon Rat, Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi.

                Mr. Suchart said that from a preliminary investigation, the name of the deceased worker was Mr. Raisit Laoprom, aged 43, an employee of White Design Co., Ltd. in the position of a crane driver. While operating the crane, the crane fell on the worker resulting in the death of the employee. The Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has provided coverage in case of death from the Compensation Fund, including 1) funeral expenses of 40,000 Baht for the funeral manager 2) compensation for death at a rate of 70% of the 10-year wages to the family, in the amount of 1,680,000 Baht and 3) the pension fund amounting to 78,364.56 Baht in. The total amount was 1,789,364.56 Baht.

                The Labour Minister also ordered the Nonthaburi Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office to coordinate with the Safety Center Zone 1 (Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya) and departments under the Ministry of Labour in Nonthaburi, and the Bang Bua Thong Police Station to go into the area to examine the scene and proceed according to the legal steps.
