On July 23, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported a summary on the proactive COVID-19 screening for insured persons and the public, following the “Workforce Fighting Together” project at the Bangkok Youth Center (Thai-Japan), Din Daeng District, Bangkok. Today was the last day of screenings. He said that this new wave of COVID-19 outbreaks has caused many people to have close contact with high-risk groups and need to be tested for infection. This has caused many public and private hospitals to be congested, having to wait in long queues. To facilitate insured persons and the public to get tested quickly, Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha instructed the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan to work with the Ministry of Interior, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and the Ministry of Public Health by the NHSO to provide proactive COVID-19 screening under the “Workforce Fighting Together” project, whereby the tests are free of charge. Today (July 23, 2021) was the last day of service. Overall, the proactive COVID-19 screening services were satisfactory.
Mr. Suchart gave an overview of proactive COVID-19 screening at the West Sports Building 1, Bangkok Youth Center (Thai-Japan), Din Daeng District, which opened for services from July 12 to 22, 2021. Over 10,000 people were tested. People who were diagnosed and had symptoms were hospitalized in the social security network. As for those who were diagnosed with the infection but had no symptoms or are in the “yellow category” according to the criteria set by the Ministry of Public Health, they were admitted to a social security Hospitel, which had a team of doctors and nurses to care for them. Close to 1,000 people have now been sent for treatment.
“The proactive COVID-19 approach helps to slow down the spread of the virus and control the spread while waiting for the vaccination of workers in the workplace. This is to build immunity among the workers so that the labour sector is strong and healthy, and businesses can move forward quickly,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
