Content Description

On July 4, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, to join with safety network partners such as Occupational Medicine Foundation, Perfect Safety Training Co., Ltd. and the Phranakorn Safety Officer Club, to visit the area and deliver foods and essentials to workers under quarantine following the Covid-19 prevention policy (bubble and seal). The visit took place at three construction worker accommodation camps, namely the MRT Orange Line (Bang Khun Non – Cultural Center – Romklao Intersection) site of Nawarat Patanakarn Co., Ltd., the Bhumibol Hospital in Sai Mai District site of Italian-Thai Development Co., Ltd., and the Thammasat University, Rangsit Center site of 27 Engineering Co., Ltd.

The donation of food and goods from the private sector and the network of safety officers to employees in worker camps are supplementary measures to those of the Ministry of Labour, which asks employees to provide all workers with three meals. The Ministry of Labour will support consumer goods for camp workers who are affected by the CCSA’s instructions to close construction worker camps to restrict traveling and movement of workers in the six dark red provinces, namely Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom, for one month. The measure aims to control the spread of Covid-19 in the worker camp clusters. In addition to compensation for unemployment benefits at 50 percent of wages, the Ministry of Labour supports proactive Covid-19 screening in worker camps. Employees who test positive will be sent for treatment. Employees are also provided with Covid-19 vaccines. The situation will be assessed every 15 days.

Mr. Wannarat said that today, the Ministry of Labour by Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin showed its care for workers in the three construction worker camps. Thus, he was assigned to deliver the food boxes and goods, with the safety network partners, including the Occupational Medicine Foundation, Perfect Safety Training Co., Ltd. and the Phranakorn Safety Officer Club, to the workers of all three worker camps to alleviate the suffering and food expenses for workers as well.
