Mr. Suchart said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan are concerned and strive to improve the quality of life of the Thai people. He has provided policies for all sectors to use their knowledge and abilities to work together effectively, to help drive problem-solving, especially urgent problems to achieve concrete, quick and timely results. The COVID-19 situation has inevitably affected the economic and social conditions of the country to live in the new normal era. It is an issue that the government has to think about. As the Labour Minister, he is concerned about the workforce and has helped to remedy Section 33 insured persons in 9 types of business, with 2,500 Baht per person, whereas employers would receive 3,000 Baht per person, up to and not exceeding 200 employees. He also assigned the Social Security Office to consider the schedule for reducing the contribution rate of insured persons under Sections 39 and 40, in which Section 40 insured persons would reduce contribution rates by 60 percent for six months, starting from August 2021 to January 2022. Remedies for the insured persons under Sections 39 and 40 would receive remedies of 5,000 Baht per person. Remedies are transferred to the insured persons’ PromptPay account that is linked with their ID card number. For Section 39 insured persons, the first day of money transfer is today (August 23, 2021), and Section 40 will receive remedies from August 24 to 26 August. Those who applied after July 31, 2021, will receive compensation in September 2021.

Mr. Suchart said that his team and himself visited the area to encourage independent workers working on Koh Sichang. There is a large interest in applying to be an insured person under Section 40 from independent workers in the Koh Sichang area; most people are fishermen, hawker traders, hired drivers, and island boat tour operators. The Social Security Office visited the area to provide application services to become an insured person under Section 40 at Koh Sichang, Chonburi. The visit encouraged self-employed people to apply and send contributions to become fully insured under section 40 within 24 August so that they are eligible for remedies from the government at 5,000 Baht per person. The Social Security Office will transfer through PromptPay accounts linked to ID card numbers only. Applicants who already have a bank account but have not linked PromptPay with a personal identification number or previously tied with a mobile phone number must proceed to link the account or change PromptPay from a mobile phone to be tied to an identification number. At the same time, applicants under Section 40 can check their rights through www.sso.go.th of the Social Security Office. For more information, contact the 1506 hotline available 24 hours daily.
