May 22, 2026 – Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, presided over the opening of the “JOB FAIR @Surin – Quality Jobs in Your Hometown” event. The Ministry of Labour, through the Department of Employment, has been actively creating employment opportunities for residents of Surin Province, a key province in the Lower North-Eastern region. Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, delivered the event report. Mr. Surachat Thientong, Secretary to the Labour Minister, Mr. Kritikakon Wongsawangphanit, Adviser to the Labour Minister, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, along with other senior Ministry officials, attended as honoured guests. The event was hosted by Mr. Chamroen Waenphet, Governor of Surin Province, and senior officials from the Ministry of Labour’s regional offices welcomed participants. The occasion took place at the Lumpini Grand Room, Suanpa Resort, Chaniang Sub-district, Mueang Surin District, Surin Province.
Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, said that the Ministry of Labour is committed to creating employment opportunities nationwide and expanding access to jobs for workers of all groups and age groups, including recent graduates, the unemployed, those seeking a career change, and vulnerable populations. Surin Province holds strong economic potential, with growth trends in processed agriculture, services, and tourism, aligned with the broader economic recovery of the North-Eastern region. At the same time, Thailand is fully entering the digital economy era, and the labour market no longer requires merely “workers” but “skilled workers” capable of effectively utilising digital technology, a key driver of labour productivity. The Ministry of Labour therefore places great importance on workforce upskilling and reskilling, with a focus on technology, language, and professional skills, to prepare students and jobseekers to meet the needs of employers and businesses. Under the policy of “Study with Funding, Graduate with a Job,” the “JOB FAIR @Surin – Quality Jobs in Your Hometown” event has been organised to enable residents to access jobs close to home, secure appropriate incomes, enjoy a better quality of life, and contribute to the growth of the province’s grassroots economy.
Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, noted that the “JOB FAIR @Surin – Quality Jobs in Your Hometown” event brings together a comprehensive range of activities and services for people of all ages, including on-the-spot recruitment and interviews with 50 leading companies offering over 5,000 job vacancies, trials of 25 independent occupations, a career exhibition entitled “New-Era Careers – Interesting Occupations”, virtual reality career experiences via VR headsets, consultation and registration for those wishing to work abroad, and open days from 11 educational institutions. It also features an inspirational forum on the theme “The Journey to Becoming Hasadin”, OTOP product displays and sales, home-based piecework products, information on funding sources from government agencies and financial institutions, discounted Thong Fah products, a mobile employment unit, and activities from Ministry of Labour agencies, all aimed at creating comprehensive opportunities for employment, livelihoods, and additional income.
“This event serves as a vital platform for ‘matching people with jobs,’ allowing employers and jobseekers to meet, speak, and conduct interviews directly, thereby reducing time and travel costs involved in job-hunting and recruitment. It also reflects the collaborative efforts of all sectors in driving Surin Province, with its rich potential in culture, agriculture, tourism, and services, towards becoming a model province for sustainable development,” the Director-General added.
