Labour Minister Welcomes Finnish Ambassador to Thailand Mr. Jyri Järviaho on Occasion of New Appointment

           On March 19, 2021, at 15.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Mr. Jyri Järviaho, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to pay a courtesy call, on the occasion of taking office on December 6, 2020. The Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong and the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol also joined the discussion at the Chatumongkol Meeting Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour. In this regard, the parties discussed various issues such as:

– Thai workers traveling to collect wild fruit in Finland. The Ministry of Labour asked the Republic of Finland to consider a draft law that assigns workers a status as seasonal workers or as employees of a purchasing company, taking care of working conditions and accommodation, the determination about the purchase of insurance policies and minimum income insurance, including measures to prevent Covid-19 for Thai workers traveling to collect wild fruit in Finland.
– Cooperation in human resource development in exchange of experts or students in the training of skill development in high technology and the future. This includes joint skill development of the Finnish business sector in Thailand and sharing experiences on the Finnish government’s model and policy of managing the vocational education system, and promotion of skill development for workers in collaboration with business establishments, especially after the Covid-19 situation and in the future.
– Support for Thai workers working in services such as cooks, massage therapists and Muay Thai trainers, travelling to work in the Republic of Finland.
