Labour Minister Welcomes Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand and Delegation

          On October 19, 2020, at 14.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, along with the Ministry of Labour’s executives, welcomed Ambassador of Myanmar to Thailand Mr. U Myo Myint Than and delegation, in a discussion to consider implementing the Cabinet’s resolution on August 4, 2020. They requested that the embassy prepare plans to support the identification of Myanmar workers, including the part of passports for Myanmar national working under the MOU, who have completed the 4-year term to change to a new one, to issue a Certificate of Identity (CI) for Myanmar workers holding a pink card, and to consider actional guidelines for migrant workers who come to work under the MOU for a 4-year employment term (from November 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021), allowing them to remain in the Kingdom and work temporarily. The discussion also considered amendments to the employment agreement by proposing a transitional provision to be a part of the agreement in the event of a disaster or unexpected situations. The meeting took place at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour.
