On December 26, 2019, at 08.30 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet met with Kalasin Provincial Governor Mr. Chaithawat Niemsiri to discuss official matters. The meeting took place at the Kalasin Provincial Government Office, 2nd floor. At 10.00 hours, the Advisor to the Labour Minister presided over the commencement of the labour volunteer anti-drug project for 2020, a collaboration with the volunteer’s capacity building project, for integration with the Ministry of Labour in 2020. The occasion took place at the Lam Pao Irrigation and Maintenance Project, Lam Khlong, Mueang, Kalasin.
The project aims to raise awareness among companies with less than 10 employees, to become aware of drug problems, and to cooperate in the prevention and solution, building immunity among workers in companies with less than 10 employees. The initiative aims to strengthen labour knowledge that will be useful for volunteer networks in coordinating labour services, resulting in integration between agencies under the Ministry of Labour and volunteer networks. The target group of the operation is 135 sub-district labour volunteers and 15 volunteer supervisors from the Ministry of Labour in Kalasin Province, for a total of 150 people. The project has been allocated budget from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour to provide knowledge regarding prevention, correction, and surveillance of drug problems. It further supports the government and Ministry of Labour’s policies that encourage businesses and employers to participate the prevention and resolution of drug problems together, including the development of the volunteer’s potential to gain knowledge and publicize efforts to the public to help prevent and resolve drug and labour issues in the area more efficiently.
Kalasin has 2,542 companies, most of which are small establishments. There are 254 companies with less than 10 employees (accounting for 85.13%).
At 13.30 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet and committee visited and delivered goods to 3 insured insurers at Kalasin Hospital, Mueang, Kalasin.
