Labour Minister’s Advisor Commences “Northern Job & Career Expo 2020” in Phitsanulok

            On February 21, 2020, at 10.00 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet presided over the opening ceremony of “Northern Job & Career Expo 2020”. The Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mr. Ornthep Intarasakul gave a report, Phitsanulok Deputy Governor Mr. Paiboon Na-Butjom gave a welcoming and the Ministry of Labour’s executives. The event took place at the graduation hall, multi-purpose building, Naresuan University, Mueang Phitsanulok, Phitsanulok.

            The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that the Department of Employment by Phitsanulok Provincial Employment Office and lower northern provinces, together with Naresuan University, organized the “Northern Job & Career Expo 2020” at Naresuan University. The career expo aims to provide employment services to meet the needs of employers/companies in various industrial areas, and in the Special Economic Development Zone. Phitsanulok is the most significant economic source in the lower northern region, with economic expansion and a center for transportation and economic activities. Thus, there is a need to hire large numbers of workers every year. Phitsanulok is also the largest educational source in the lower northern region. There are many tertiary institutions that can produce many students into the labour market. The institutions are innovative and can further expand the economy to meet the demand for employment in the provinces and other provinces.

            The event will promote the opportunity for job seekers to choose positions that match their knowledge, abilities, and aptitudes, and apply to many employers at the same time. It also creates awareness of the demand trends of the labour market. There is employment promotion to help reduce unemployment and labour shortages, including encouraging people to have a variety of career opportunities, promoting income and improving basic living standards for people in Phitsanulok and the lower northern provinces to have a better quality of life. The event had a variety of activities that met the preparation of labour in the future and increased the potential for the occupation of the people.

            The event had 169 top employers/companies, with 66 employers from Phitsanulok. The companies took applications and interviews directly, with a total of 11,307 service positions for positions in Phitsanulok. A total of 3,904 positions included production staff/production workers, general clerical staff, administrative staff, and product quality inspectors, for example. The event also included product exhibitions, products of homeworker groups, promoted by the Department of Employment in Phitsanulok and lower northern provinces, to sell and publicize products and create opportunities from a total of 32 groups. The groups included Hua Ro Sewing Group, Muang Mai Pattana Group, Ban Na Muang Weaving Group, Bags Weaving Group from Plastic Lines, Silp Sirin Din Thai Group, and Bamboo Weaving Group for example. Financial institutions included the Government Savings Bank, Bang Rakam Branch, to provide advice on funding sources, including 50  freelance training practices and a virtual reality show for learning in 6 careers, such as doctors/nurses/dentists/reporter/host/computer engineers for example. There was also a display of franchising, such as Pad Thai – Wang Thong, Pa Thongpian, Rama meatballs, Eskimo bingsu, as a guideline for careers. The event opened up the world to work abroad from the IM Japan project, with speakers from the IM Japan organization in Thailand. There were Thai Massage demonstration services by the Phitsanulok Skill Development Institute Area 9, with various activities from both public and private educational institutions and departments under the Ministry of Labour, including related organizations that organized exhibitions showcasing award-winning innovations.
