On July 20, 2020, at 11.00 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet chaired the project on developing the potential of the social security network leaders at Avada Hotel, Muang, Trat. Social Security Officer in Trat Mrs. Boonpa Chaiwongsa reported the purpose of the project. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that the social security network is an important mechanism to drive the extension of social security coverage under Section 40, which is to promote, publicize, campaign, and invite independent sector workers to enter the area social security protection system continually. The Social Security Office recognizes the importance of improving social security network leaders’ performance to have the knowledge and expertise in social security benefits, including the exchange of experiences from network leaders. The project aims to establish a cooperative development foundation for network partners spread throughout the country, and as a representative, to drive the extension of social security coverage to independent labour at the local level. The social security network leader potential development project will help to enhance the roles, duties, capacity, knowledge, and understanding about Social Security Section 40 for the social security network leaders. After the training, the participants will be able to use the knowledge, skills, and experience gained to benefit the independent sector workers at the area level to be protected by the extension of strong and sustainable, voluntary social security coverage.
The Labour Minister’s Advisor further said that insurance is necessary nowadays, as it results in life insurance. For the Social Security Network under Section 40, they must know Section 40 and be able to give customers facts, with three proposed options.
The project to develop the potential of the social security network leaders had 50 participants, with an emphasis on integrated work and participation of network partners in driving independent labour policies to get social security coverage throughout Thailand, to create social guarantee and good quality of life work and retirement age.
