Labour Minister’s Advisor Visits Pai in Mae Hong Son to Grant Benefits for Independent Workers to be Section 40 Insurers Anywhere They Are

                The Labour Minister’s Advisor visited the Ministry of Labour’s Joint Service Center in Pai, Mae Hong Son. Services support visitors in applying as an insurer under Article 40, which a second option (100 Baht/month), to encourage self-employed professionals in the area to access social security benefits and services of the Ministry of Labour.

                On January 31, 2020, at 08.30 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet and the heads of government under the Ministry of Labour in Mae Hong Son visited the Ministry of Labour’s Joint Service Center in Pai, Mae Hong Son. The center provides information/news and services of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour. It provides the necessary information to clients before going for other services, coordinating services, receiving and forwarding matters, petition or requests by the people in the government service work under the Ministry of Labour. It provides services that can be completed immediately without having to send the matter to the government.

                Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak applied as an insurer under Article 40, Option 2 (100 Baht/month), with the first month’s installment payment (January 2020) and 12 months in advance for a total of 1,300 Baht. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak said that no matter where people are, they can apply to be insured everywhere. The invitation for interested parties to apply as insurers under Section 40, is to order to encourage self-employed workers in all areas to be protected and have access to social security benefits and services of the Ministry of Labour, serving all provinces of the country.

                Insurers under Section 40 are generally self-employed people who are no less than 15 years of age and not over 60 years of age. It creates a guarantee for self-employed persons to be protected, whereby there are three options as follows: Option 1, to pay 70 Baht per month to receive three benefits, which are for situations in danger or sickness, to receive compensation for lack of income up to 300 Baht/day, compensation for lack of income from disability of 500 – 1,000 Baht/month (no more than 15 years) and funeral management fee of 20,000 Baht. Option 2, to pay 100 Baht/month to receive three benefits like option 1, with an additional pension of 50 Baht/month, saving up to 1,000 Baht/month. Option 3, to receive three benefits like option 1, with an additional pension of 150 Baht/month, an increased funeral fee to 40,000 Baht, and child allowance of 200 Baht/child/month, with more than two children at a time.

                People interested can apply at 7-eleven, the Ministry of Labour’s 1506 hotline, press 1 for the Social Security Office, all the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives counters, Social Security Offices nationwide, including mobile staff units.
