Labour Minister’s Advisor Visits Prachuap Khiri Khan to Delivery Policies to MOL Agencies

            The Labour Minister’s Advisor met with government agencies’ heads under the Ministry of Labour in Prachuap Khiri Khan and delivered the Ministry of Labour’s policy for 2021 to solve all aspects of labour issues.

            Today (September 11, 2020) Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, presided over the meeting of the head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province at the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Labour Office. She delivered the Ministry of Labour’s policies and guidelines for 2021, including urgent policies that need to be implemented within three months. The urgent policies include: 1) Remedial measures through compensation to employees of companies affected by the Covid-19 situation who have not yet been alleviated. The compensation is for insured persons under Section 33, of Thai nationality that has not completed six months of contributions within 15 months. Measures for the reduction of the salary rate and social security fund for employers and insured persons from 5% to 2% of wages for a period of 3 months from September to November 2020 and measures to assist companies in borrowing from the Skill Development Fund for an interest-free rate over 12 months. There are also proactive measures for unemployed workers to quickly receive benefits through integrations to monitor companies that are expected to reduce their workforce to pay benefits under the Social Security Law’s labor protection regulations. 2) Sustainably resolve issues by supporting employment and legislation to promote and improve informal workers’ quality of life and promote labour relations. 3) Create employment incentives by upgrading workforce skills to meet international standards. There are credit measures to promote employment and occupational safety. 4) Government agencies are hiring the new generation of workers and people who have never entered the workforce. On September 26 – 28, there will be an event called the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020, hosting various vocational training exhibitions. The event will have over 1 million unemployed positions.             At the provincial level, the Labour Minister asked the agencies to work together to monitor the labour situation closely, especially the number of workers and companies affected by the coronavirus outbreak, to assist recovery according to the urgent policy. The Labour Minister also asked provincial workers, as representatives of the regional ministries, to act as the center in all aspects, creating an action plan and providing labour information at the provincial level through collaboration with provincial agencies, network partners, and labor volunteers and labour graduates. The parties are a link in providing the Ministry of Labour’s service to the community. Even in the current situation, the provincial employment office has to urgently coordinate employers to find vacancies. He has also asked the head of government agencies to support the provincial employment office’s work.

             Afterward, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan observed the operations of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Labour Office, the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office, the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Employment Office, the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Social Security Office, and the Prachuap Khiri Khan Skill Development Office.
