The Assistant to the Labour Minister met with Suan Dusit University students to discuss career support and preparation before entering the workforce.
On March 17, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng and representatives from agencies under the Ministry of Labour to join the discussion with the management team and student representatives from Suan Dusit Rajabhat University. The discussion covered career support guidelines in preparation for entering the workforce, which took place at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Office Building, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University.
The Labour Minister’s Assistant said the Ministry of Labour is ready to look after all Thai and foreign workers, following the Labour Minister’s words saying, “who wants to work, will work, who wants to be trained, will train.” Some agencies can assist workers in all areas, such as the Department of Employment, which has projects to meet with the workforce. There are job openings that can be searched online through the smart job center system (recruitment and hiring systems), which contains information on both informal and part-time jobs. In addition, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare will oversee laws that protect labour rights, and the Department of Skill Development is like a professional training college. Furthermore, the Social Security Office will be responsible for the rights and benefits that are to be received and protected following the law. The Ministry of Labour is ready to take care of students who will graduate and enter the workforce in the future, in terms of professional aptitude and creating an understanding with the establishments. It aims to support students in newly opened programs, as well as coordinate with the operators regarding the rate of internships and new graduates, including benefits, right, and protection in entering the labour market, concluded Dr. Duangrit.
