On January 29, 2020, at 13.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng, visited the Stop Service Center (OSS) 1, at IT Square Shopping Center, Lak Si, Bangkok. He monitored the renewal of foreign worker permits and the “Fast Track Lane” service, a particular channel for employers with no more than five foreign workers. The Department of Employment’s Inspector, Ms. Kanchana Hanchaisri, gave a welcoming and led the visit.
Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng said that following Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul’s assignment of the Department of Employment to facilitate visitors within the OSS center by adjusting the work processes and services for more convenience and speed, the Department of Employment improved the “Fast Track Lane” service for employers with no more than five foreign workers. There were also public relations initiatives for employers and foreign workers to know the processes, together with marked instructions. Furthermore, systems were improved, whereby the process rearrangement proved that more services could be provided and at a quicker speed. At the same time, it reduced the time taken from before. Thus, employers and foreign workers are more satisfied. Nevertheless, the Department of Employment and all related units will continue to improve the processes until the work permit application is completed.
“From this visit, the results went well. I am satisfied with the strength of the OSS, which has the Department of Provincial Administration, Immigration Office, and the Department of Employment working together. The “Fast Track Lane” service is a special channel for employers with no more than five foreign workers in the One Stop Service (OSS). It is an additional service to facilitate and improve the speed for employers so that they do not have to wait for a long time. In my visit today, I would like to remind employers of foreign workers whose permits will expire on March 31 to June 30, 2020, to quickly proceed with renewals so that the center is not crowded at a later period, to receive faster and more effective services,” said the Assistant to the Labour Minister.
For the progress of the work permit renewal and visa application processes, there are a total of 376,899 permitted foreign workers, whereby 103,723 have paid fees, and 21,127 have received non-Thai citizenship cards. The top 5 businesses with foreigners receiving pink cards were: 1. Agriculture and livestock 2. Household work 3. Construction 4. Various services and 5. Seafood processing.
He stressed that the staff in the center base people as the center and have good governance by providing services to the public to be convenient, with confidence, clear, transparent, effective, and with responsibility.
