Labour Section of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv inspected Thai workers in a mushroom farm

              On 7 January 2011, Labour Section of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv went to inspect Thai workers in a mush room farm at Ayalon Moshav, Mishmar-Ayalon. 

             The Mushroom Farm has many buildings covering a total area of 5 Rai. It cultivates mushrooms such as Chimpignon mushroom. Upon the Officials’ arrival, they found workers were resting under the sun due to a cold weather in the winter. There are in total 19 Thai workers, who come from Thai Northeastern Provinces such as Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Buri Ram, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Khai, and Nakhon Phanom. The workers said that due to a large amount of work, they have to work everyday. They, somehow, earn a lot from the overtime payment. They normally start working at 4 a.m. and there are 3 meal-breaks during a day, morning, afternoon, and evening meal-breaks. Their income is approximately 4,500-5,200 Shekel per month. All of them have fine living condition. They either rest in their residential area or play Sepak-Takraw in their free time. Workers had asked the officials about various issues such as an application for a replacement passport for a lost passport, tax refund, and a refugee visa issued by the United Nations etc. Officials also found that the residential and the kitchen areas are unclean so they warn and tell worker to set up a cleaning schedule in order to maintain good hygiene in the kitchen and residential areas. They also warned them not to get involve in drugs and gamble, and to spend wisely.


               Before the official left, they had given Thai workers sepak trakaw balls, a net, Thai flags as presents, which would give them inspirations.
