June 26, 2026 – Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of Labour, delegated Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, to preside over the opening ceremony of the “JOB FAIR 2026 @ Songkhla” event. Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, delegated Ms. Wannawanach Tanyong, Songkhla Provincial Employment Officer, to deliver the event report. Mr. Attacahn Chaowanich, working group member of the Minister of Labour, Associate Professor Dr. Monthira Tantanuch MD, Assistant President for Student Wellbeing at Prince of Songkla University, senior Ministry of Labour executives, heads of Ministry of Labour provincial offices in Songkhla, representatives of educational institutions, students, and private sector representatives attended and hosted the event at the Convention Hall of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne International Conference Centre, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.

Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, stated that the Ministry of Labour, through the Department of Employment, organised the “JOB FAIR 2026 @ Songkhla” event to promote and support employment opportunities for people of all genders and ages seeking work. It serves as an important mechanism for driving employment, creating livelihoods, and increasing income for the public, thereby helping to reduce unemployment and alleviate labour shortages in the business sector. This event serves as a “bridge” between employers and jobseekers, enabling businesses to select suitable, capable workers, whilst jobseekers can apply and interview directly with employers in a single venue, saving time and costs and increasing access to appropriate employment.

The event also serves as an important platform for broadening the career horizons of students and those entering the labour market, enabling them to learn about future labour demand trends, further education options, career pathways, and the skills employers require, particularly modern digital technology skills that can be applied effectively across various occupations. This is consistent with the Ministry of Labour’s policy under the concept of “Study with Funding, Graduate with a Job.”

Ms. Wannawanach Tanyong, Songkhla Provincial Employment Officer, stated that Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, had commissioned the “JOB FAIR 2026 @ Songkhla” event to facilitate direct meetings between jobseekers of all ages and employers with vacancies. The event brings together a wide and beneficial range of activities in one place, including on-the-spot recruitment and interviews with 70 leading employers in Songkhla Province and surrounding areas, offering over 2,000 vacancies across diverse fields such as engineering, programming, computer graphics, technical trades, management, and accounting/finance. The event also features demonstrations and hands-on trials of 10 independent occupations, such as fresh-fruit cream cheese mochi, DIY resin hair clips made from dried flowers, and fresh-flower bouquet arrangement. In addition, employment agencies are on hand to provide consultation on applying for both domestic and overseas positions.

Further activities included recruitment and selection of Thai technical trainees for internships in Japan through the IM Japan organisation, and recruitment of candidates interested in working in Taiwan with FORMOSA HEAVY INDUSTRIES CORPORATION. A special lecture entitled “The Hybrid Worker: Excel at Work, People, and Technology — Essential Skills for 2026” was also offered, alongside career guidance sessions, career clinics, career and further education exhibitions, and sales of products from food truck businesses, franchise operators, self-employed groups, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and home-based workers. Ministry of Labour agencies and financial institutions were also present to offer consultation and information to attendees. The event was a comprehensive platform that brought together opportunities for employment, career building, and skills development in one place.
