On November 5, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to co-chair the Thai side at the Thai-Cambodian Ministerial Meeting, through video conference with H.E. Ith Samheng, Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, co-chair of Cambodia. Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan and Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol joined the meeting at the Tien Achakul meeting room, 10th floor, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Surachai said that the Thai Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, is determined to lead Thailand. This includes cooperation with neighboring countries to pass the difficulties together, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to spread. Cambodia and Thailand have sustained a relationship for a long time and are close neighbors, having good relations at the government and people levels in every dimension. This includes social and cultural dimensions, as well as labour and mobility. This cooperation has been continuously promoted and supported together. In the past, labour cooperation has been developed in a better direction, including the protection of Cambodian workers’ rights to work in Thailand.
“I sincerely hope that everything that the Cambodian and Thai authorities try to do will help drive the economy of both sides, including helping to improve the quality of life of Cambodian workers who come to work in Thailand. This meeting will receive support from all of you to help strengthen the economy in all sectors of both sides to be strengthened and to grow continuously,” concluded Mr. Surachai.
