MOL Commences Academic Seminar on “The Way Forward of the Thai Labour Market”

          The Labour Minister commenced the academic seminar on “The Way Forward of the Thai Labour Market,” which presented work and exchanged ideas among academics and relevant departments on the direction of the Thai labour market in the future, also planning to produce a workforce that aligns with national development.

 

 

           On August 8, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul presided over the opening ceremony of the 2019 academic seminar on “The Way Forward of the Thai Labour Market” at the Ministry of Labour. He said that Thailand had entered the digital age following the changing world economy, driven by the government that has the policy to change the Thai economy into a digital economy. The changes will affect the labour market structure using digital technology and communication as a factor in production.
           The Labour Minister said that the workforce is a valuable resource to drive the country’s economy; therefore, the development of the workforce is an essential factor in achieving the government’s policy. To determine the direction for workforce development to support the changing Thai economy from a traditional to an innovative economy, will require cooperation from all sectors in forming guidelines for the course of the changes in the Thai labour market in the future.
           This seminar was held as a forum for the presentation of academic studies in the labour market and facilitated the exchange of opinions among scholars and agencies involved in the direction of the Thai labour market for the future. The Ministry of Labour has seen the importance of research studies which will promote knowledge with new academic progress, as well as presenting research results and exchanging ideas from experts. The information will be key for production planning and labour development following the direction of the labour market in the future.
