MOL Commences Event to Promote Informal Worker Networks in Nakhon Ratchasima

                The Secretariat to the Labour Minister commenced the Informal Labour Fair 2020, aimed at developing and promoting the potential of informal workers for a sustainable and good quality of life.

                On February 6, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Lt. Gen. Nanthadet Meksawat presided over the Informal Labour Fair 2020, at Terminal Hall, 4th floor, Terminal 21 shopping center, Nakhon Ratchasima. He said that the Ministry of Labour gives importance to informal workers and therefore defines it as a vision that “informal workers have income and security.” It aims to raise the quality of life of informal workers to have standards of living that are as good as those in the formal system, to be promoted, protected and developed to secure income and career, leading to sustainable good quality of life.

                Lt. Gen. Nanthadet  said further that for the development and promotion of the potential of informal workers, efforts must focus on strengthening the informal labour network in line with civil state guidelines, by working in the form of integration in all dimensions that are related. It must also give importance to working with all sectors, including the government, the private sector, civil society, and local informal labour networks to create unification in thinking and doing, sustainably strengthening informal workers.

                The said event was organized to promote the potential of informal workers and to publicize informal worker products in Nakhon Chai, Surin. The activities included video presentations of informal labour groups, knowledge exchange on informal labour, exhibitions of government agencies, trade shows, and demonstrations on the careers of informal labour networks. In this event, participants were informal workers of the Nakornchai Burin group, OTOP operators, and government officials, with over 600 people involved.
