The Labour Minister assigned his Secretariat to launch the “Good Workers Following the Sufficiency Economy Way” to alleviate the suffering of enterprises, employers, and employees according to the sufficiency economy philosophy.
On March 22, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong presided over the opening ceremony of the “Good Workers Following the Sufficiency Economy Way” to lay a foundation for business establishments to organize welfare together with employees when faced with various situations that impede business operations. The efforts aim to help alleviate the distress from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, following the sufficiency economy philosophy. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Amphan Tuwwit and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined this ceremony. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General Mr. Apinya Sucharitanan, gave a report at Gamma Industries Co., Ltd.
Mr. Suthep said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of General Prawit Wongsuwan has a management policy under the vision for “workers to have high potential and a good quality of life.” If focuses on applying the sufficiency economy philosophy as a guideline for improving employees and their families quality of life, ready to support and encourage employers to provide welfare on top of the mandatory welfare for their employees. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare was assigned to organize the “Good Workers Following the Sufficiency Economy Way” project for establishments to allocate the available resources for employees to use, including empty spaces around the organization for employees to spend free time after work to cultivate vegetables and gardens, and raise animals. The products from the employees are exchanged and used for household consumption, whereas the rest of the product can be sold in the community, reducing expenses and increasing the income for employees. It is also a career development to support employees entering retirement age, to be able to rely on themselves according to the principles of the sufficiency economy philosophy, helping to overcome problems and obstacles in the crisis sustainably.
