On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 09.00 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul, presided over the workshop to increase the effectiveness of the prevention of labour trafficking, between September 4-5, 2019, at Grand Ratchada Room, 5th floor, Tharnthip Building, Chaopraya Park Hotel Bangkok.
The workshop is courtesy of Police General Chatchawan Suksomjit (senator) and experts from the Faculty of Political Science Ramkhamhaeng University, who gave lectures on human trafficking prevention and protection of the rights of workers of all nationalities following international standards. The talks also covered management of foreign workers in the system, including the ratification of the Protocol under the 29th ILO Convention on forced labour, the ratification of the ILO Convention No. 188 on Working in the Fisheries Sector, as well as cooperation with all sectors in prevention of human trafficking and forced labour, government and international organizations, private sector, civil society and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Approximately 200 participants attended the workshop.
