MOL Concludes COVID-19 Resistant Farm Project Model Helping 1,010 People with New Agricultural Theories for Sustainable Careers

          The Ministry of Labour concluded “The COVID-19 Resistant Farm Project Model”, helping 1,101 unemployed people with occupations from all over the country in 30 farms and 17 provinces. The villagers were happy to learn new agricultural theory to extend their self-employment to local employment sources, enabling income for self-sufficiency family sustainably; many participants are interested to apply for Phase 2 of the project.  

          On July 13, 2020, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat presided over the closing ceremony of “The COVID-19 Resistant Farm Project Model” at the Farm Project Model initiated by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother Covid Resistant Farm Model Project-19 at the Model Farm Project under the royal initiative of Queen Sirikit in Village No. 1, Serm Sai, Serm Ngam, Lampang. The initiative was driven by the Royal Volunteer Center together in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and relevant agencies carrying out activities to resolve professional occupational problems as according to “The COVID-19 Resistant Farm Project Model”.

          Mrs. Theanrat further said that the “The COVID-19 Resistant Farm Project Model” has been implemented nationwide, in 17 provinces, for a total of 30 farms. Participants work on the farm for 8 hours a day, for 60 days of employment, with Sunday as a holiday. The wage is 300 Baht per person per day. The project started from May 4 and will continue until the end of employment as responsible by the Ministry of Labour today (July 13, 2020). A total of 1,101 people participated in the project. There were 49 people who resigned, with 1,052 remaining as some workers returned to work, some got new jobs and worked in agriculture. Which after this, there will be a phase 2 of the project, whereby the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will be the agency responsible. For Lampang, after the project there were 37 participants remaining who will participate phase 2 and 3 of the project.

          “The Ministry of Labour is grateful of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen’s kindness in providing an area on the model farm following the initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The people who participated in the project, in addition to getting a job, they will have a career, reduce expenses, earn an income, and apply their knowledge of new theories on agriculture to further their careers for themselves and their families,” concluded Mrs. Theanrat.
