MOL Delivers Statement at 109th Session of the International Labour Organization

          On June 11, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol delivered a statement as the head of the Thai government delegation at the 109th Session of the International Labour Organization via teleconference system. The Permanent Secretary of Labour spoke of the Thai government’s actions to assist employers and employees during the Covid-19 situation, including testing, treatment, and vaccinations without distinction of status and race. He also spoke about reducing social security contribution rates, extending unemployment benefits, including providing low-interest loans to maintain employment. He mentioned the Job Expo Thailand 2020, which has provided over 1.2 million jobs in the public and private sectors by promoting youth employment through the New Graduate Employment Program. The government has also facilitated foreign workers by extending the time to register and the duration of visas and work permits.

          Thailand will implement the 20-year national strategy, the Bio-Circular-Green Economy model, to restructure the labour market. It will further promote Green Skills and new occupational measures to promote social justice and valuable work for everyone.

          Along with this, Chairman of the Confederation of Thai Labour Mr. Panas Thailuan shared a statement as the employee representative. He praised the Thai government and the Ministry of Labour, especially the Social Security Office, to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on enterprises and employees.
