On February 10, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswon, to give an interview on the “Clear Cut, Chud Jane ” program regarding opportunities for Thai workers in Saudi Arabia, following the government’s restoration of relations. The occasion took place at the radio station of Thailand.
Mr. Boonchob said that from the official visit to Saudi Arabia by Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayut Chan-ocha, together with his delegation, including the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, there were successful discussions on labour cooperation. It was found that many Thai people have been interested in working in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Labour has agencies ready to support and develop workers’ potential, develop labour skills to standards, and provide workers with higher wages. Thai workers are in great demand in the Saudi Arabian labour market, especially in construction and industrial jobs and service sector jobs such as hoteliers, receptionists, waitresses, cooks, and spa massagers.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour added that for the protection of workers who go to work in Saudi Arabia, the state-to-state transmission would be used first to reduce issues of deduction of agent fees which may result in unfair treatment. Those interested and who foresee the opportunity to work can register through the Department of Employment’s website at https://www.doe.go.th/overseas from today onwards. They can also contact the Provincial Employment Office or the Department of Employment’s hotline on 1506, press 2 for more details. He also reminded the people not to be fooled by people who directly contact them, as they may be deceived.
“For those who want to work in Saudi Arabia, please have real intentions, be mentally prepared and have professional skills that match the desired work, to be able to work effectively and bring the money back to support the family,” concluded the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob.
