On September 6, 2021, at 12.30 hours, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Pattraporn Samantarat, as the head of the delegation, participated in the 14th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Workers (AFML) via teleconference at the Saengsingkaew Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry Labour. Representatives from the Department of Employment, Department of Skill Development, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, and the Social Security Office also attended the meeting via teleconference.
The 14th AFML was organized by Brunei Darussalam and attended by government representatives, the private sector, employers and employees from the 10 ASEAN member countries, and the International Labour Organization. The forum considered the progress following the recommendation from the 13th AFML session and jointly developed recommendations for the 14th AFML session, the theme of which was “Recovery and labour migration in the post-pandemic future,” covering two subthemes. The first subtheme was the protection of migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic – the current situation and subtheme two was the recovery and the post-pandemic future.
