August 8, 2026 – Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, together with Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Phongthep Phetsoom, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, executives, and officials from relevant agencies, attended a meeting to discuss approaches and measures on safety in educational institutions. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, at the Rajawallop Conference Room, Rajawallop Building, Ministry of Education.
The joint meeting of four ministries, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and the Ministry of Labour, aimed to determine urgent measures and long-term approaches to raising safety standards in educational institutions, covering both physical and psychological safety, to make them safe spaces for students, teachers, educational personnel, and workers.
Regarding the Ministry of Labour’s contribution, it places particular emphasis on ensuring students’ safety during work placements. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare will monitor and supervise compliance to ensure that students receive protection in accordance with the workplace safety standards of the businesses involved, whilst coordinating with relevant agencies to prevent and reduce risks and create a comprehensive safe environment for students.
