Today (March 4, 2020) at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Department of Employment’s Director-General Mr. Suchart Pornchaiwisetkun joined the meeting to prepare urgent measures to support Thai workers traveling back from the country at risk of infection and the spread of the coronary virus COVID-19. The meeting took place at the Phakdi Badin Building, Government Houses. Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha presided over the meeting. The Prime Minister said during the conference that the issue on measures to support groups wishing to return from South Korea after the COVID-19 epidemic of the was an urgent agenda. He asked the Ministry of Public Health to report the latest situation first and then to discuss measures on supporting workers returning from South Korea. He said that there are measures, but the most important thing is to create a trust for the people and the society as a whole, because no matter who it is, the government must look after the Thai people together, like the 138 people who returned from Wuhan. Therefore, relevant parties must find a way to do their best. Before the meeting, all participants had their temperature taken and were given handwashing gel along with meeting documents.
