MOL Kicks Off Mask and Hand Wash Gel Making in Companies to Prevent COVID-19

          Assistant to the Labour Minister kicked-off a tutorial on mask and hand wash gel making at Bangkok Can Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Pathum Thani, to build awareness among workers in the workplace, to know how to protect themselves from the Covid-19, before launching the mask-making tutorial nationwide.

          On March 18, 2020, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng presided over the visit of the demonstration on making masks from household fabric among workers in the workplace, to protect themselves from the spread of the new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19). The occasion took place at the Bangkok Can Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Prachathipat, Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Ministry of Labour’s Chief Inspector-General Mr. Suwan Duangta also participated in the event. The Labour Minister’s Assistant said that Labour Minister M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul was concerned for all workers at the moment, in light of the COVID-19 situation. He has instructed the Ministry of Labour’s agencies in the area to take care of workers in establishments and to publicize the awareness and understanding among employees and employers in the workplace, including the general public, on self-protection from the virus. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare has coordinated with companies in making a mask for household use. There are speakers from the Department of Skill Development who conducted the training and demonstration of mask making and handwashing gel for the target group, such as home workers from the Department of Employment and self-employed workers, for example. 

          Dr. Duangrit also said that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office also has a team of doctors and nurses in its network, to educate the workers in the workplace under the health promotion program to prevent disease in the workplace. There is also the “Learn About COVID-19 with Social Security” initiative to create awareness among workers in the workplace to avoid the disease as well.
