On August 26, 2021, at 13.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew presided over the opening of the meeting Trilateral National Preparatory Workshop for the 14th ASEAN Conference on Migrant Workers. The meeting took place over a video conference organized by the Ministry of Labour and the International Labour Organization. Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattraporn Samantarat was the moderator for agenda 6, on suggestions from the Trilateral National Preparatory Meeting.
Meeting participants included representatives from the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Immigration Office, the National Security Council, the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand, the State Enterprises Workers’ Relations, the Migrant Working Group, and the International Labour Organization.
The purpose of the meeting was to follow up on the recommendations from the 13th AFML meeting and jointly draw up the recommendations to be presented at the 14th AFML meeting. The main theme of the meeting was “Recovery and Labour Migration in the Post Pandemic Future,” which covers two sub-topics, including Subtheme 1 Protection of migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic – Current situation and Subtheme 2 Recovery and the post-pandemic future.
