MOL Prepares for Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2019

          The Ministry of Labour organized a press conference for the Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2019, to honour establishments with excellent labour management systems, competing for the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Royal Trophy, on September 9, 2019, at Impact Muang Thong Thani.

          On September 4, 2019, at 10.00 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul presided over the press conference of the Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2019. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Vivat Jiraphanvanich and committee also attended the conference at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The award is given to promote bilateral mechanisms to improve the quality of life of workers and praises establishments committed to improving labour management to international standards. It is also an incentive and an example for other establishments to improve labour management. The Ministry of Labour, therefore, organizes the Labour Management Excellence Award for establishments with an excellent labour management system, in which businesses receive the award will receive a Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Royal Trophy.

 

 

          As for the selection criteria, consideration will be given to the duration of maintaining the outstanding workplace award in each area such as occupational safety, health and working environment, labour relations and welfare at an excellent level and maintaining Thai labour standards (TLS 8001-2553) and looking to see which organization has the highest overall score. Three companies were selected and awarded in 2019, divided into large enterprises. (1,000 or more employees) which was Seagate Technology (Thailand) Company Limited in Samut Prakan, medium-sized enterprises (300 to 999 employees), namely Supawut Industry Company Limited in Chon Buri, and small-sized enterprises (1 to 299 employees), which was Newly Foods (Thailand) Company Limited in Samut Prakan. All 3 business establishments will receive the royal trophy at the Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2019, which will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019, at the Grand Diamond Ballroom, Impact Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi. In addition, on that day, there will be a trophy from the Prime Minister and a certificate from the Ministry of Labour given to workplaces that received the outstanding workplace award for labour relations and welfare, outstanding occupational safety, health and working environment and companies that maintain Thai labour standards (TLS 8001-2553). There are also awards for the committee on occupational safety, health and working environment, national outstanding safety agency awards, and over 400 exceptional safety officers in the workplace.
          “This event is a collaboration between employees and employers according to bilateral mechanisms, which shows the importance of participation in improving the lives of workers and creating sustainable social responsibility towards labour. Not only will employees have good welfare, there is also workplace safety. Employers themselves will have efficient employees and be capable of systematically managing labour, resulting in better operations in the future,” said the Labour Minister.
