Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol traveled to Korat and urged the Social Security Office to expedite over 4 million Baht in compensation.
The event where the perpetrator used firearms in a shooting at the center of Korat and Terminal 21, Korat, resulted in a number of employees and insurers being injured, including some deaths. On February 9, 2020, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng to the area, to visit the site and expedite the payment of benefits from the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund to 6 victims from the disaster, totaling 2,746,464.58 Baht.
On February 10, 2020, there were still reports that found the deaths of 4 more insured employees.
Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, together with the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Ms. Pailin Chindamaneeporn, visited the area and urged staff to examine the conclusion of the insured employees who were injured and died. Additional information was gradually received from relatives and hospitals that there are 4 additional deaths of insured employees, totaling 1,487,635.05 Baht as follows:
– One insurer’s death due to working was:
1. Kannika Karnbanjong. The family received funeral fees of 33,600 Baht, compensation for the death of 991,200 Baht, and a pension of 32,690.60 Baht, totaling 1,057,490.60 Baht.
– Three deaths that were not related to the insurer’s work were:
1. Papatchaya Nualraksa. The family received funeral fees of 40,000 Baht, compensation for the death of 9,600 Baht, and a pension of 50,467.55 Baht, totaling 100,067.55 Baht.
2. Suriya Limratham. The family received funeral fees of 40,000 Baht, compensation for the death of 16,016 Baht, and a pension of 15,677 Baht, totaling 71,693 Baht.
3. Aphisana Khanphakwaen. The family received funeral fees of 40,000 Baht, compensation for the death of 90,000 Baht, and a pension of 128,383.90 Baht, totaling 258,383.90 Baht.
In addition, he visited and gave words of encouragement to two patients who were seriously injured and resting in the ICU room, in Bangkok Ratchasima Hospital, which were:
1. Mr. Suphachai Tangyoo
2. Mr. Chanwee Chansirisuk
Mr. Sutthi said that he had brought the concerns of Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul to all those affected by this incident and extended his condolences. He said that the Ministry of Labour under the Social Security Office’s mission will expedite the inspection and provide rapid assistance to all affected people. He asked employees and the insured to be confident that the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund has the duty to protect all employees and insured persons from the incident that occurred.
