Office of Labour Affairs in Japan joins hands with Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo to set 24 hour-aid center to inform Thais and Thai workers’ news

         Office of Labour Affairs collaborates with Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo and other entities in preparing the aid measure by opening 24-hour aid center in order to inform Thais and Thai workers’ news.
         Mr. Kamol Sawadchukeo, Minister of Labour (labour),
reported the earthquake situation in Japan and the aid measure provided by Royal Thai Embassy. During 20-22 March 2011, large earthquakes spawn 21 of aftershocks ranging from 3.5-5.8 in magnitude and mostly hit the northeast of Japan near the first quake. Currently, 8.450 confirmed killed and 13,000 people missing. The Japanese government is considering stopping seeking the victims and keeps on identifying the dead. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan summarized the situation of Fukushima nuclear power plant on 21 March 2011 that it could control the spread of reactor’s damage. The discovery of traces of radioactive contamination in Tokyo tap water on 15 March 2010 is 0.3–0.4 Bq/ Liter while the average in the past 20 years is at 0–0.5 Bq which is regarded as a normal level. After 12 times of detection, it found radioactive contamination of water for twice. The quantity of radioactivity in Tokyo on 20 March at 1.00 pm. is at 0.059 Micro sievert  which is a normal rate since human receives 2400 micro sievert per year. In comparison with X-Ray CT , human will  receive 6,900 Micro sievert each time. In this regard, receiving less than 100,000 Micro sievert will not affect health.
             As evacuation programmes are still continuing for Thai citizens living in Japan, Mr. Veerasak Futrakul, Ambassador to Tokyo, reported to Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister, that his embassy had sent more than 40 Thais back home on a C-130 aircraft. So far, the embassy had sent three groups comprising a total of 118 Thais back to Thailand. Mr Veerasak said that the embassy was still unable to contact 1,600 Thai while 800 have been found due to no electricity in some areas. Regarding the readiness of aid measure and the evacuation in case of a great amount of radioactivity leak, he has coordinated with Office of Labour Affairs in Japan and Office of Civil Service Commission to contact Thais to travel to Tokyo. In this regard, Office of Labour Affairs in Tokyo has prepared the information of workers, trainees , workplace, employers for contact details in the event of evacuation and other assistances. The 24 hour-aid center opens everyday. There are workers, trainees and Thais contact for enquires and ask about aid measure of Royal Thai Embassy providing for the periodically spread of radiation
