Office of Labour Affairs in Riyadh visits and conducts fact inspection regarding workers in United Arab Emirates

On 16-19 June 2011, Office of Labour Affairs in Riyadh went to United Arab Emirates in order to visit Thai workers, accompanied by a group of the Thai Royal Embassy in Abudhabi as an occasion of the overseas election for Thai residents at the camp of SK Engineering located in Hubsan which there were approximately 700 Thai workers. In this regard, there were 271 people using their votes. Afterward, they went to the camp of Hyundai’s workers which there were approximately 1,000 workers and there were 379 people using their votes. Moreover, the officers had conducted a fact inspection from 11 workers of Hyodong Development. CO., LTD as these workers faced with the discrepancy between the actual payment and the amount of wage agreed with agents/employment agencies. Therefore, the Office of Labour Affairs in Riyadh had asked over the living conditions, working environment and took note of workers ‘statements as well as compiling document to submit Department of Employment in order to inform the employment agencies.
