On Monday 10th October 2011, Mrs. Kanchana Wongsuwa, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs), and Mr. Sakdinath Sontisakyothin, Counsellor (Labour Affaiars) — on behalf of the Office of Labour Affairs in Singapore –, and officials of the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore visited Thai workers at Scal Kim Chuan Dormitory.

The dormitory is a category “A” steel-structure accommodation. A fully arranged shared kitchen, laundry, sport field, fitness centre, lounge are available for all residents. A laundry service is also available. There are some 1,000 workers living in the dormitory, some 300 of whom are Thai. Most of the Thai workers are builders.

The Office of Labour Affair’s officials gave the Thai workers leaflets containing details of the Office of Labour Affairs’ tasks as well as legal information they needed to know about work and employment in Singapore.
