Pakistani Permanent Secretary of HRD Meets Permanent Secretary of Labour to Discuss Official Matters

 On December 4, 2019, at 09.15 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, together with the Department of Employment’s Director-General Mr. Suchart Pornchaiwisetkun welcomed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development’s Permanent Secretary Mr. Aamir Hasan and committee, representing the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & HRD. The visiting committee met to discuss the hiring of Pakistani workers in Thailand and the qualifications sought for, along with advice on sending Pakistani workers to work in Thailand. The meeting took place at the Permanent Secretary of Labour’s meeting room, 7th floor, Ministry of Labour.

At present, there is no cooperation on labour with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In 2016, 15 Thai workers traveled to work in Pakistan, 9 workers in 2017, 7 workers in 2018, and 4 workers in 2019 (January-October). The Thai workers went to work in traditional massage, as chefs, beauticians, and general managers. As for Pakistani nationals permitted to work in Thailand, the Department of Employment’s Foreign Workers Administration Office processed work permits for Pakistanis through online systems and granted work permits to 1,354 Pakistani workers. A total of 1,214 received work permits under Section 59 (general type) and 140 under Section 62 (investment promotion type).
