On March 19, 2021, at 20.30 hours, time in Thailand, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol as the head of the Thai government delegation and regular members of the governing body, the highest executive committee of the International Labour Organization (ILO), along with Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattraporn Samatrat, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and relevant officials joined the 341st Session of the Governing Body via teleconference, held between March 15 to 27, 2021, from the headquarters of the International Labour Organization in
Geneva, Switzerland.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour gave a statement on behalf of the ASEAN government on the agenda regarding the Covid-19 and the world of work. He commended the ILO’s initiatives in creating global cooperation to address the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis, aiming for the world of work to recover to its original state. It has also focused on problem-solving to get through the crisis. ASEAN attaches great importance to its unity, mission, and crisis recovery strategy. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the impact of Covid-19 on labour and employment at the special session of the ASEAN Labour Ministers on May 14, 2020, and the 37th ASEAN Leadership Summit from November 13-15, 2020. The session approved a comprehensive rehabilitation framework and action plan following the rehabilitation framework covering ASEAN, also signing of the ASEAN Declaration on the Travel Corridor Agreement.
