Permanent Secretary of Labour Welcomed UNHCR Representative to Thailand

          On March 3, 2020, at 14.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol welcomed UNHCR Representative to Thailand Mr. Giuseppe de Vincentiis and delegation at the meeting room of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, 7th floor, Ministry of Labour. The meeting discussed government regulations regarding the Prime Minister’s Office regulations on screening of aliens entering the Kingdom and unable to return to their home country B.E. 2560. It discussed the issue of promoting employment of foreigners in Thailand under the supervision of the UNHCR, the process of importing foreign labour through MOUs and other supporting measures, and cases of foreigners traveling to work legally and unable to return to the country of origin as a result of unrest and insecurity in the country. On this occasion, the UNHCR thanked the Thai government for driving the said policies of the Prime Minister’s Office, which is a good way to protect foreigners residing in Thailand and agreed that further cooperation with the UNHCR should be strengthened.
