Permanent Secretary of Labour’s Assistant Commences “TRIANGLE in ASEAN” Meeting Sharing Suggestions on Development and Expansion

          Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour commenced the TRIANGLE in ASEAN Meeting No. 2/2019, sharing experiences as a tripartite member. Comments were received from the public and compiled as good lessons and suggestions for carrying out useful activities to be developed and expanded in practice.

          Today (December 13, 2019) at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Phattana Phanfak to chair the meeting of the Advisory Committee on Rights and Protection of Migrant Workers (TRIANGLE in ASEAN) No. 2/2019. The meeting took place at Kamolmas Room, 6th Floor, Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok. The Permanent Secretary’s Assistant said, “The TRIANGLE project is an academic collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, the International Labour Organization and other parties, with the aim for the promotion and protection of migrant workers. The project has been in operations since 2010.”

          “Promoting and protecting migrant workers is a mission that the Thai government attaches great importance. In the past 2-3 years, the Ministry of Labour has continuously implemented operations such as improving the Royal Decree on Managing the Work of Aliens B.E. 2560 and amendments, operations on the proof of nationality and laws and measures to suppress human trafficking, forced labour and improve the protection of migrant workers. For the project advisory committee meeting No. 2/2019, I sincerely hope that the committee can share experiences and reflect on tripartite member perspectives, as well as take comments from civil society to compile good lessons and suggestions for carrying out useful activities which can be developed and implemented in the future.”

Participants in the meeting consisted of government representatives, employers, employees, and civil society organizations, totaling 30 people.
