PM Chairs Openings of Job Expo Thailand 2020 The Greatest Employment Event Helping over 1 Million Unemployed and Graduates

            On September 26, 2020, at 15.00 hours, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha commenced the Job Expo Thailand 2020, together with Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave a welcoming and reported the event’s objectives, together with the Cabinet. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the event at the center stage of Hall 98-99, Exhibition and Convention Center, BITEC Bangna.

            On this occasion, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that this event’s objective is to promote employment for new graduates. The government, state enterprises, and the private sector have come together to promote additional employment to replace foreign workers, maintaining existing employment with a focus on the areas affected by Covid-19, together with skill development opportunities for both formal and informal workers. The event hosted activities on establishing a platform for collecting employment data and developing skills with the “Thaimeengarntum.com” platform. There are over 1 million job positions from government agencies, state enterprises, and private sectors, both locally and internationally. Vacancies comprise 475,725 positions by the Department of Employment of, 101,716 positions by the government sector, 114,433 overseas positions, 287,147 positions under the loan project (pending approval), 260,000 positions for new graduates (Co-payment), totaling over 1,239,091 vacancies to support employment among Thai people.

            After that, the Prime Minister commenced the event, saying, “This event hosts various activities in response to the national strategy in the area of ​​development and empowerment of human resources, in all dimensions. It will upgrade the workforce from labourers to use brainpower workers, with easy access to funding, innovation, technology, and information.” The Prime Minister and committee visited various zones within the event, such as the exhibition zone honoring the royal Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, the Father of Thai Craftsmanship, the Volunteers 904 project, and the Social Security Zone. The event also commenced free influenza vaccination activities for insured persons and the elderly. The “Thaimeengarntim” zone promoted and showcased the platform’s potential, with an innovation zone showcasing current and future technological advancements.

            In addition, there were activities to promote and develop the workforce’s potential to cope with the S-Curve and New S-curve industries. There was also the “Joining in Creating Jobs for Career Development” zone to promote and develop skills to become a startup business owner. Other zones included the Franchise & Food truck zome, including famous restaurants in Thailand, so that visitors can choose to buy, taste, and negotiate business.

Activities in the “Joining in Creating Jobs for Career Development” zone, with workshops on making crispy pork, steamed buns, wire bending, perfume, and lipstick making.

Training on “Digital Marketing, E-commerce, and Social Media” by Mr. Prasit Worachattravanich and “eSports Converting Gamers to Professionals.”
Workshops on creating professions, 3D jelly making, rope knitting, and balloon twisting.
A mini-concert by MUSKETEERS (16.30 hours)

A seminar on “Thai Workers’ Advancement into the World Labour Market,” by academics from leading universities.
Professional skills training and preparation on the topic of “Thai designer career to the eyes of the world” by Ms. Suthirat Kaewarporn and the topic on “Startups: Rise or Fall.”
Workshops on coffee making, guitar playing, and boomerang making.
Mini concert by GUN GUN, the singer of “The Stranded Whale” (16.30 hours).
