Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour responded to orders by the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. It has worked with relevant departments and hospitals in the social security network to carry out proactive Covid-19 tests for employees in the workplace and worker campsites in Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi, controlling the spread of Covid-19.
On May 31, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the Covid-19 outbreaks in worker camps. He said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha was concerned about the situation and ordered the Ministry of Labour to work with the Ministry of Interior, Provincial Governors, the Provincial Public Health Offices, and hospitals in social security networks to conduct proactive Covid-19 tests for workplace employees and worker campsites in Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces. The efforts aim to control the spread of Covid-19.
Mr. Suchart said that Pathum Thani Began proactive Covid-19 screening in the workplace starting today (May 31, 2021) in three companies: Tyson with 1,948 employees, Chokchai Engineering with 825 employees, and Clemax Machinery with 136 employees. Karunvej Pathum Thani Hospital in the social security network carried out the screening.
Nonthaburi plans to carry out the second phase of proactive Covid-19 screening in the workplace, starting from May 29 to June 30, 2021, targeting 160 companies comprising 11,140 employees. It will also conduct proactive Covid-19 screening in two worker campsites, namely Sinothai Company with 759 employees and Nawarat Pattanakarn with 454 employees. Kasemrad International Hospital in the social security network will carry out the screenings. Those found detected with the virus will be transferred to a hospital in the social security network, supervised by a team of doctors and nurses.
The proactive Covid-19 screenings will slow down the spread of the infection and control further outbreaks while workplace employees wait to be vaccinated.
