PM Visits Chakri Naruebodin Medical Institute and Monitors Water Management System to Resolve Flooding in Samut Prakarn

          On September 12, 2021, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha visited the Chakri Naruebodin Medical Institute, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital at the Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodin Hospital Building, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. Minister of the Interior General Anupong Paochinda, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives from relevant departments joined the occasion.
          On this occasion, the Prime Minister and his delegation visited the operations of the staff at the COVID-19 vaccination service area on the 3rd floor of Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodin Hospital, then listened to the progress report of the Chakri Naruebodin Medical Institute, Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodin Hospital, the Queen Sirikit Learning Center and the progress on the Rama-Tanarak Senior Housing project. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital and the Director of Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodin Hospital gave the report. The Prime Minister and the delegation also met with relevant agencies on water management and the problem of flooding in Samut Prakan Province and delivered policies and orders.
          Later, the Prime Minister and his delegation traveled to the elevated water bridge at Suvarnabhumi Pumping Station to observe the Chonlaharn Phichit Water Transmission and Maintenance Project, Mueang Samut Prakan, Samut Prakan Province. The visit checked the readiness of the flood prevention plan in the lower Chao Phraya area. The National Water Resources Office’s Secretary-General, the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, the Director-General of the Department of Highways, and the Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, gave a welcoming. The Prime Minister and the delegation visited the elevated water bridge. They examined the drainage system of coastal canals and tributaries draining water from Khlong Samrong to the seashore and pumping out water into the Gulf of Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Pumping Station’s Chonlaharn Phichit Water Transmission and Maintenance Project. It is the first and only water bridge in Thailand that “lifts water across the road,” created from the royal initiative of King Rama IX. The project was opened for official use in 2010 to solve the flood problem. It also connects to Sukhumvit Road and Thepharak Road to solve traffic issues.
