The Labour Minister presented certificates and gave testimony to those who passed the training under the program to develop the Thai workforce in line with the needs of the foreign labour market (Israel). The program aims at enhancing knowledge in preparation for work in Israel. The Labour Minister emphasised that the Ministry of Labour is prepared to protect Thai workers who work legally comprehensively.
On March 22, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo presided over the training commencement and delivered certificates and a testimony to the trainees in the project to develop the Thai workforce according to the needs of the foreign labour market (Israel) along with Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s senior executives at the multi-purpose building 2nd Development Division, Nakhon Ratchasima. The participants included job seekers who have been interviewed and are waiting to travel to work in the agricultural sector in Israel under the Thai-Israel Cooperation Program for Employment (TIC). 101 participants joined the training between March 19-22, 2019.
Pol.Gen. Adul said that at present, there are 24,746 Thai workers in Israel under the Thai-Israel Cooperation Program for Employment (TIC), comprising 22,871 agricultural workers in more than 700 agrarian estates with approximately 7,100 employers. In 2019, the program aims to deliver 5,000 people, whereby the cost of traveling to Israel is around 75,000 – 77,000 Baht. The initial employment period is under a 2-year employment contract and can be renewed depending on the extension of the employer’s permit to employ foreign workers and work visas. The total working period, however, cannot exceed 5 years and 3 months. The minimum wage is 5,300 Israeli Shekels or approximately 46,799 Baht (following the minimum wage rate as of April 1, 2018) (depending on the exchange rate at that time). The Ministry of Labour by the Department of Employment, therefore, organized training courses for knowledge and to strengthen agricultural skills, use of related tools/equipment and prepare job seekers to travel to work in the agricultural sector in Israel with knowledge about the laws, traditions, English language, life and health care at work. The training was organized for 4 days and received cooperation from the 2nd Development Division, Mueang, Nakhon Ratchasima, allowing the use of training facilities and accommodation. It also supported speakers in related subjects and support from Suranaree University of Technology, Nakhon Ratchasima as well.
The Labour Minister added that the Ministry of Labour is concerned about the safety and working life of Thai workers and therefore aims to protect by social security to create stability in work. In addition, it also supports and encourages the use of knowledge gained from work when returning to Thailand. In the past, many Thai workers have succeeded as Smart Farmers, able to use scientific knowledge and agricultural technology effectively. He asked that Thai workers be confident that the government will take full care of Thai workers who are working abroad legally, both before traveling, during work abroad and after returning to Thailand.
