Social Workers Group Leader Thanks Labour Minister for Helping Former Employees of Body Fashion to Receive Legal Entitlements

          On June 22, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed the Chairman of the Social Workers Group, Mr. Chansin Subnonwai, who brought 60 former employees of Body Fashion Co. Ltd., from Nakhon Sawan province to meet and thank the Labour Minister for helping terminated employees to receive benefits according to labour protection laws quickly. The visit also followed up on the progress following the labour demands. Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitvong, Pol. Maj. Gen. Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, Advisory Board Member to the Labour Minister, Mr. Natthawat Teeratathamrong, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives, also joined the occasion at the foyer on the ground floor, Ministry of Labour.

          Mr. Suchart continued that the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan give importance to alleviating the troubles of workers who have been laid off from unemployment due to the COVID-19 situation. Today, representatives of former employees from Body Fashion Co., Ltd., came to support and thank the government and the Ministry of Labour for helping employee, ensuring fairness and prompt payment of unemployment benefits from the social security system, including compensation for the suffering of employees from the Employee Welfare Fund. Support was extended to 858 people laid off and have not received wages to help the workers have money to live from being laid off due to a lack of income from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Labour Minister assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitvong to chair the meeting to monitor the progress on the implementation of labour demands on various issues requested by the social worker group that is still in the process. He instructed relevant agencies under the Ministry of Labour to complete and report the progress to the labour group members.

          “The Ministry of Labour’s operations in helping workers who have been laid off is to alleviate the troubles, especially during the COVID-19 situation, to receive benefits that they are entitled to, ensuring that they operate following government policy. The Ministry of Labour strives to take care of the workforce like family,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
