Taiwan Immigration Agency offers 3 different types of cards to attract international professionals.

            Taiwan Immigration Agency plans to issue 3 different types of work permits, namely, “Academic and Business Travel card”, “Plum Blossum card”, and “Employment card.” This aims to attract international professionals to work in Taiwan and the cardholders will be entitled to enjoy a series of privileges as well as extending the period of stay.


                In this regard, Mr. Hsieh Li-kung, the Director of the National Immigration Agency has awarded Academic and Business Travel card to Mr. Dale T. Mortensen, the 2010 Nobel Prize for economics winner, at Taoyuan airport. Awarding this privilege card allow the cardholder to be proud and honored which is not only marking special recognition of Taiwan among international communities, but also being a Taiwan’s efficient marketing strategy.

 

 

 

            In addition, “the Academic and Business Travel card” is issued to international recognized professionals who wish not to work in Taiwan, and also is valid for a period of three years. Moreover, the cardholders are allowed multiple entries and departures with a 30-day limit for each entry. They are also permitted to use the No. 1 official passage at the entry points and to participate in activities such as teaching, delivering speeches, any other academic activities in Taiwan without reapplying work permit.


                Also, “the Plum Blossom card” is issued to senior professionals with special exertion and investment in Taiwan. Any person who has invested at least NT$ 15 million and has created at least five job opportunities for workers in Taiwan for consecutive 3 years will be eligible to permanently stay in the country.


                Last, “the Employment card” is issued to foreign executive professionals and incorporates a visa, work permit, and residence permit into single card which facilitate the application process for professionals who wish to work in Taiwan.
