Thai graduates get opportunities to attend the skill training course in Brunei.

              According to the policy of MOL’s administrators, it aimed at creating alternative choices for skilled and semi-skilled workers to work overseas in order to attain high rates of wages, welfares, new technology and advance knowledge which would enable them to be business owners in the future. Moreover, these qualifications would generate pleasant image as acknowledged international standard for qualified workers which are in accordance with the direction of skill development for Thai workers by Department of Skill Development. Regarding the direction, the promotion is accelerated to enable Thai workers to be trained and improve Thai workers’ efficiency and qualities in terms of technical and generic skills that would consequently enhance country’s competitive capacity.

 

                         Permanent Secretary of MOL approved and assigned Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei, Department of Employment, and Department of Skill Development to support Thai graduates and job seekers to be given job training opportunities in Brunei in order to improve their skills and generate the incentives to be ready for working overseas afterward. In this regard, Permanent Secretary of MOL had already informed Minister of Labour and Vice Minister of Labour (detail shown on document of Sor.Por.Lor, urgent status, No. 0205/6370, date 16 June 2010).
 
                        Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei has consecutively reported Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and MOL on the progression of a project. Currently, there are 5 Thai graduates from Khonkaen Vocational College starting the training course as following detail; On 21 May 2011 and 7 June 2011, these 5 graduates arrived at Brunei, namely, 1. Miss Ratanaporn Noitaseang (Phon Industrial and Community Education College), Accounting 2. Mr.Nattapol Chinhong (Namphong College), Automotive technology 3. Mr. Theeranan Sunta (Phon Industrial and Community Education College), Computer 4. Mr. Peerapong Leangthaisong (Phon Industrial and Community Education College) Automotive technology 5. Mr. Narongsak Pansa (College of Agriculture and Technology), Agriculture. Other than immigration facilitation by Mr. Anachak Sutayon, Minister Counsellor of Labour, upon arrival, Mr. Thanakrit Saetia and Mr. Chatchai Amornthup, business operators went to pick these graduates up at the airport and brought to the accommodations.
 
                        On 8 June, 2011 Office of Labour, The Royal Thai Embassy organized the orientation for 5 graduates by inviting Mr. Apichart Phetcharatana, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to preside over the training course. Also, Mr. Thawat Sumitmor, Minister Counsellor of Consular provided a lecture on legal knowledge, and Mr. Anachak Sutayon, Minister Counsellor of Labour ensured trainees the protection and assistance during the training period and gave confidence to prepare the readiness to enter into labour market as well as giving everyone a handbook of living in Brunei.
 
                         Mr. Anachak Sutayon, Minister Counsellor of Labour mentioned on the follow-up plan of the training course that Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei had a plan to visit, follow up, and listen to the problems and obstacles of trainees and business operators two or three times a week and during 21 May 2011-15 June 2011, it had followed up the training for seven times. According to the follow-up, business operators have provided accommodation, meals, payment, and 24-hr security.
 
                         In addition, the trainees have good health and happiness. They are satisfied with the experiences gained from the training course which gave them to learn the principles and working system beneficial for the career such as stocking management program, marketing and customer service, etc. 
 
                         Simultaneously, the two operators have also satisfied with trainees’ behaviors, intentions, and performances. Currently, relevant agencies are on process to expand the operation to the Southern border provinces by the collaboration between Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei and Mr. Vichearn Kuntaturit, Assistant Director of The Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center pursuant to the comment of Director-General of Department of Employment and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Therefore, Miss. Rujira Keawtranong, Director of Songhla Vocational Education College has responded the project by informing the intention to join the project. In this regard, it is expected to generate the cooperation among vocational education colleges in Southern border provinces and others in a near future.
