Labour Minister Sends Encouragement to 34 Thai Youths in 17 Fields Ahead of ASEAN Skills Competition in the Philippines

August 22, 2025, 09.00 hours – Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Labour, presided over a ceremony to deliver remarks of encouragement and support to the Thai youth delegation competing in the 14th ASEAN Skills Competition, prior to their departure on August 23, 2025, to the Philippines. Attending the event were Mr. Surasit Nitiwuttiworrak, Secretary to the Labour Minister, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Decha Pruksapatnarak, Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, along with senior executives from the Ministry of Labour. Labour Minister Invites Public to Celebrate National Labour Day 2025: 174,000 Job Vacancies, Free Vaccinations, Food, and Activities, All in One Play on May 1 at Lan Khon Mueang

            April 30, 2025 – Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, invited workers, employees, social security contributors, and the general public to attend the “National Labour Day 2025” celebration. Ministry of Labour Provides Compensation for Deceased and Injured Workers from the Earthquake Totalling Over 17 Million Baht

On April 3, 2025, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, revealed that from the earthquake on March 28 and the building collapse that caused injuries and deaths, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, gave great importance and took immediate action. He instructed the establishment of a war room to help workers within 1 hour after the incident broke out nationwide. Currently, as of April 2, 2025, the Ministry of Labour has assisted by paying compensation to 22 affected people through social security benefits, totaling 17,388,375 Baht, divided into 850,000 Baht for funeral expenses, 15,568,392 Baht for compensation in the event of death, and 969,983 Baht for old age pensions. Currently, documents are being collected from dependents who are entitled to the compensation. Export Sector Appreciates Government’s Factory Sandbox Project for Solving COVID-19 Issues and Promoting 17% Growth Valued 2.71Bn USD, the Highest in 11 Years

           On February 24, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that the COVID-19 situation had impacted the country’s tourism and service sectors, which are an important source of income. But at the same time, the export sector with over 2 million workers in 4 sectors has grown, namely in food, medical equipment, automotive and electronic parts, which is the result of implementing the Factory Sandbox project by the Ministry of Labour, following government policy. It has supported export businesses on continuous employment, and entrepreneurs can continue their business. Labour Minister Leads Team to Check Preparation of Proactive Covid-19 Screening Services for Insured Persons at the Thai-Japan Youth Center in Din Daeng, Bangkok, Before Launch on April 17

         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin and committee visited the West Sports Building 1, Bangkok Youth Center (Thai-Japan), Din Daeng, Bangkok, to check the preparation of the facility for use as a channel for proactive Covid-screening for insured persons in the social security system under Section 33, 39 and 40 located in Bangkok. Labour Minister Explains Online Registration Process to Insured Persons at Risk to Get Covid-19 Screenings Starting April 17 at the Thai-Japan Youth Center in Din Daeng, Bangkok

          On April 14, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that in the past week, cases of people infected with Covid-19 have increased in the country. Many cases are linked to entertainment establishments, pubs, and bars. The NHSO has notified that people at risk of Covid-19 can be screened in all public and private hospitals nationwide to enable timely screening and treatment and block the spread of infection. The Prime Minister is concerned about insured persons amid the pandemic. Therefore, he instructed the Ministry of Labour to work with the Ministry of Interior (Bangkok) and NHSO to increase channels for Covid-19 services, to reduce congestion, and facilitate insured persons in the social security system under Section 33, 39, and 40. MOL Inspects Rayong Institute for Skill Development 17

          On October 7, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to travel to Rayong to inspect the Institute for Skill Development 17, with the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Puma Thamakul. The visiting committee followed up on the Ministry of Labour’s missions, following its policies, and to meet with the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Rayong. The meeting listened to a briefing on the skills development projects’ results in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the situation, and the drive of important labour policies, including problems and obstacles on labour in the area.             The Permanent Secretary Labour concluded the workshop to review the strategic plan of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour for 2017-2021. The workshop also created awareness among agencies of plans to be implemented in accordance with the national strategy and 12th Economic Development Plan to achieve effective results.

              The Labour Minister visited Chonburi to follow up on the progress of the Eastern Economic Corridor Labour Administration Center which will provide employment services, workforce development, labour protection and social security benefits to support the special economic zone and the growth of industries in the EEC area. In the year 2016, 33,660 laborers were inspected, 1,086,540 were employed, and 7,485 cases were found. Most of the culprits are on paychecks and do not arrange holidays. Labor inspectors in 1,404 risky businesses employ 68,196 people, found 136 offenses, while 523 fishing boats, 6,815 workers, found 10 offenders.
